SUBMISSIONS DEADLINE EXTENDED!
2024–2025 Salmon Creek Journal
Our submission deadline has been extended! The new deadline has yet to be determined and we will continue accepting submissions until then
We’re thrilled to open submissions for the 2024–2025 edition of Salmon Creek Journal — a celebration of student voices, artistic expression, and transformative storytelling.
Whether you’re a writer, poet, artist, or photographer, we invite you to share your perspective and passion. Let your work speak for what drives you, moves you, or reflects your personal journey.
Though there is a theme, interpret them as freely and creatively as you like! They are more for us than you guys.
This year’s themes are:
- Motivation: What fuels your fire? What keeps you going?
- Joy & Peace: What moments bring you clarity, contentment, or bliss?
- Transformation: What shifts have shaped your identity, outlook, or path forward?

Guidelines:
- Open to Washington State University students, alumni, staff and the public

- Public submitters may send up to one piece per category (3 total submissions). Please submit each piece separately, as it can be hard to discern separate pieces if incorrectly formatted. This helps reduce editing errors on our part

- Prose submissions should be in standard manuscript format (double-spaced, one-inch margins, 12-point serif font) —word limit: 2,500
- For performance, audio, or online work, please submit a link (YouTube, Soundcloud, etc.) in your submission’s body
- No explicit content
- All submissions must be original work
- For Visual Arts, please upload a representation or photograph of your art. If accepted, we may ask for specific guidelines to enhance the presentation of your art
- Multiple forms accepted: visual art, poetry, short stories, essays, photography, and hybrid work
Best regards,
The Salmon Creek Journal team
