Our 2023 Journal theme is: Rebirth and Reemergence

The Salmon Creek Journal has had a tumultuous few years at the hands of the pandemic. Having lost a great deal of institutional knowledge, our small but mighty staff is using last year’s theme of perseverance to inspire a new year of submissions while revitalizing the publication. In this year’s theme, rebirth and reemergence, we want to highlight artistic expressions representative of the radical transformations we’ve undergone. We want to see the depths of lessons learned, experiences gained and future aspirations.

Here at Salmon Creek Journal, we strive to push the boundaries of what ‘art’ and ‘literature’ mean. We welcome creative work of all types, including, but not limited to:

Formal poetry, free verse, illustration, short fiction, scripts, cartoons, paintings, sculpture, video, music/songs, electronic literature, creative nonfiction, and anything else you can imagine and create. We are open to all genres. (When submitting, please select the category that closest fits your piece.)

Note: while we welcome thought-provoking or statement-making pieces, we do not accept ‘shock value’ type content, such as extreme violence, gore, offensive or explicit content, etc.

By submitting, you acknowledge that you may be accepted for publication in our journal, our online showcase, or both.

Salmon Creek Journal maintains North American First Publication rights for accepted/published pieces. Please do not submit anything previously published. Simultaneous submissions OK as long as Salmon Creek Journal is immediately notified of acceptance elsewhere.
