Bookbinding Workshop: A Success!

Last Friday, the Salmon Creek Journal team joined forces with ArtX to host a bookbinding event at WSU Vancouver. The art studio was packed with students from a wide variety of majors. As participants bonded with one another and ate yummy burritos, they cut, glued, and threaded their own books. The bookbinding process required a lot of time and focus, but the results were amazing. Each book was lovingly customized with beautiful paper and handmade using the Coptic stitch.

The SCJ team would like to express our gratitude to WSUV’s art technician, Noah Matteucci, for leading the workshop and helping with the planning and set-up. SCJ would also like to give a shout-out to ArtX for collaborating with us—let’s do it again sometime!

And, for those of you who attended the event, thank you SO much. We loved having you there. This workshop was a great opportunity for us to interact with creative people and spread the word about the Salmon Creek Journal. It’s events like these that allow students to engage in cool learning opportunities and cultivate community on campus. Your willingness to show up and try something new goes a long way. The more people who express interest in these kinds of events, the more likely we are to receive funding for similar activities in the future! Stay awesome, VanCougs.

Warmly, the Salmon Creek Journal team
